Cottage, O-Week, and everything in between.

Hey guys!!!!!  So it's been a month (yes, a MONTH) since I have last blogged, but boy do I have a lot to talk about now.

So The Rideau Lakes resort was amazingggg! And the American couple we met there 2 years ago just happened to be up that week as well!  We went walking with Chinook to the Locks, she went swimming, our friend's dog (our friend Suzanne came up for a night) fell in the locks, I nearly fell in trying to save the ball, and I'm pretty sure I flashed everyone watching the chaotic scene as a result.  I also learned how to play this card game called Pay The Man, and let me tell you, it is one intense game, and really hilarious when you get to watch your mom slowly drift away from reality because she is drunk out of her mind.  Speaking of intense games, BINGO is one crazy game when you're playing for money.  I swear the same people kept winning and by the end of it there were a select few that I wanted to get even with lmao.

Oh and the best part was by far when I dropped my cell phone in the lake, while fishing with Suzanne.  At first I was in shock just staring at my phone siking farther and farther into the lake, and when I finally realized what was happening, it was too late.  I definetely learned my lesson though: never put valuable electronics in a flimsy cardigan pocket.

So my mom and I came back on a Friday night (and I drove all the way home!!!) and then it was off to my bf's place for 8 days on that Sunday.  The weather was terrible meeting up with him, but I had such a spectacular time, I can't wait to go back. :)

We somehow did groceries, considering his idea of grocery shopping is standing in an aisle for 3 hours trying to remember what he needed in the first place.  It was funny watching him try to shop, and I couldn't help but think he was cute.  We went for a drive on tuesday night, which was really relaxing and a nice change from being in the house all the time, and on Wednesday night we went to see The Expendables, a movie I didn't think I would enjoy but that was really good.  Action and bits of comedy all rolled together into one.

Thursday was officially his long weekend away from work, so what is an electrician/handyman to do with all his spare time?  Work on his house of course.  He ripped out the old siding around his garage and put in freshly painted cedar wood, which looked amazing at the end.  Then we got pizza and some beer and chilled the rest of the night. :)

The weekend was packed with boats, boats and more boats, and exploring the islands around Lake Simcoe, islands I never knew existed after all these years.  I met so many great people and the memories made were filled with laughs and fun times.

So this post is shaping up to be a novel, but unfortunately I'm not even close to done (well, maybe I am).  So I got back from Lake Simcoe 13 days ago, only to go home and pack, pack, pack for the next 4 days because I moved to Guelph!!!  Now 4 days seems like enough right?? Well wrong actually, when you consider that most of that time was taken up by hanging out with friends one last time and going to last-minute appointments.  Oh the joys of having braces and prescription meds.

Finally the big moving day came, with Fatima to thank for helping me get organized on my last night.  There were tears and laughs and a lot of driving, but now I am finally settling into Guelph.  I must say I'm nervous about all the work I have to do in the coming months, but hopefully things will work out for the best and I will be successful in my future endeavours.  Guelph is a great place to be and I couldn't be happier with the decision I made.

Much love to all my friends back in OTTAWA!!! I love and miss you all and will see you soon. :) <3

FROSH WEEK :)

First off, move in was quite painless and I'm loving my new room, and room mate.
Secondly, I'm super excited to tell you guys all about the last two days, which is the debut of my university career.
After moving in there were multiple activites for us to participate in. I ended up doing the Carleton University  Residence Scavenger Hunt  and BINGO (at which I've won a $25 gift certificate to Starbucks *woot*)
Today was the official opening of Frosh week. I'm doing the general frosh, and this year's theme is Circus. I'm on the Lions team. We had a BBQ to kick off this evenings events which included a Ravenpalooza, a peprally, a soccer game against Ottawa U and we beat them (2-0). I think that success was due to our extensive spirit and cheers. And lastly, a Much Music Video Dance Party :)

Super fun and I'm extremely exhausted so...

Blog about it later,

Salty Goodness

Ever gone swimming and left to pool with a cholrine scent that just doesn't go away?
Solution to this problem, go to a salt water pool.

Today I went to the salt water pool at The Brookstreet Hotel in Ottawa and it was AMAZING! It's a bit pricey but well worth it. For just $15 (its an all day thing) you have access to the gym, the outdoor pool, the indoor pool, the indoor hot tub, the special hot tub in the change room, and the sauna. The salty water relaxed my muscles and I was floating along in bliss. I was only there for 2-3 hours today but I can't wait to spend a whole day there :)

It's going going going....into the suitcase

Its that time of year again, prepping for school. This year I've decided to live in rez, so this should be interesting! I never knew packing could be so hard! I have so much clothes (like WAY too much!) and I'm torn between what I need and what I want to bring! It's all going in one large suitcase and I just spent the last 4 hours with my friend packing, and unpacking until I've finally got the basics down. Shirts, and pants are done but there's still so much more left like bedding, textbooks, school supplies......and the list keeps on going! This is going to be one exhausting job!
Blog about it later!

Chicago!

Hey everyone :)

Let me share with you my summer vacation =D
It started last Sunday at the airport, flew on this tiny plane to Chicago and that's when all the fun started.
Getting off the plane I was greeted by buskers who were playing their saxophones and rapping to some unknown mix of techno and pop. I stayed at the Essex Inn, it was really nice with a pool and sauna :)
We went sightseeing all around Chicago. Some of the places we visited are: Millennium Park, Sear's Tower, The Magnificient Mile, China Town, the Field Museum, Navy Pier, Lakeshore and North Avenue Beach are just some of the places we saw around town.

Now I did mention a movie set, and that movie set was (drum roll please) TRANSFORMERS 3!!!!!!!
I didn't even realize that Transformers was shot in Chicago, but then again, I haven't watched Transofrmers 1 or 2 (Yes I know, it's a crime....don't yell at me!) I even tried sneaking over the caution tape to take better pictures but the security guard caught me and I was so scared that she was going to sit on me and I'd die. It's not fair! Even she (the security guard) was taking photos, talk about corrupt!

Well, enough about me talking so here are some photos I'd like to share with you:

Transformers 3:

Field Museum:

Millennium Park:

More photos and stuff to come!

I'm Baaaaaccccccckkkkkkk!

Did you miss me? Of course you did =P (joking!)
So I'm officially back from Chicago and I can't wait to tell you all about it! I'll drop some hints though:
It includes movie sets, shopping (of course) and getting lost in a wonderfully architectural city ( oh, and did i mention a movie set? ;D)

Busy as a Bee

WOW! I've neglected this blog for so long!

I've just been so busy with, well, life. Working this summer full-time really leaves no time to have much of a social life, but I think I'm managing. I saw Inception recently, and that was Amazing! Mind blowing! Literally, it went KA-POW! And just yesterday I saw Sharks 3D in IMAX, it was real cool especially since shark week was just here on discovery channel. It's really sad how all sharks are endangered yet feared. They are really interesting and important creatures in the underwater ecosystem, which our lives depend on. I've been to a few, well one, park social so far, which was Beach Volleyball day, and I dressed up for our theme (Dirty Sanchez). I've finally gotten my wish and went to the beach, where it did end up raining and thundering, but we survived. Have you ever realized that it's really hard to run in the sand, but is an extremely effective method of toning your legs? Anyways, Banquet and Boat Cruise is coming up for parks, and I'm super excited for the Banquet, since I'm probably skipping out on Boat Cruise.....

Work has just been extremely hectic and quite interesting, we would get these really slow days at the pool and then really busy days. But I'm glad that I'm going on vacation this coming week (a much deserved break). I'm heading off to Chicago for a week and will probably be living off deep-dish pizza for a while YUM! =D I'm hoping to get some back to school shopping done without breaking the bank considering next year is Uni and that just eats up everyone's money.

Tomorrow I'm off to my friend's 17th birthday party and Friday I'm hoping to be hitting up IKEA to pump up my room in rez. I'll blog the rest of my summer adventures later!

Ciao,

C: My gold cross necklace
F: My rings.
M: A hair tie and my watch.

Are you an optimist or a pessimist?

C: um...most people would tell me I'm a perssimist but I think I'm both, it really depends on the situation
F: Optimist when i'm happy and a pessimist when i'm sad. Thank goodness i'm mostly happy.
M: Ugh this is hardddd, um I guess it depends on the situation.  I try to be optimistic because life is just better when you have something to look forward to.

City or country life?

C: City, I love vacationing in the country, but I love the bustle and hustle in the city
F: City because there is always something going on.
M: As of recently, country. :)  But I think I have always had a little country trying to get out over the years.

Sweet, sour or salty?

C: Sour.
F: Salty.
M: Sweet.

Would you rather live in a Twilight world or a Harry Potter world?

C: Potter all the way! I want to take Potions, and Charms and Transfiguration and.....

M: I have grown to love my hips.  I despise my thighs.

Top three things in closet you can't live without...

F: My worn out, yellow sweater, my faded blue jeans and my red belt.
M: My red and navy blue striped sweater, my floral skirt and my white v-neck t-shirt.

If you could only see black and white except for one color, what color would you choose to see?

C: Oh man! So hard!!!! Blue? I really don't know, being an art student, I can't justify which colour I'd chose :(
F: I would say yellow because then I could paint and see the sun which would make my days a little better.
M: Blue.

And for everyone else:
Do you buy various athletic trophies and have your name engraved onto them so that when people come over you can throw them away in front of them?  Then when they ask what you are doing you can tell them,"oh, I'm just getting rid of some of these damn trophies, I have no room for any more?"

Me and My Boredom

I'm currently watching storm clouds swirling and rolling on by. I have this weird fascination in watching storms, the lightening strikes, the sounds of thunder, simply mesmerizing!

Unfortunately I didn't end up working today due to this lovely weather; there goes my $82 =(
But I did get some stuff done over the course of three days (Mon-Wed)

Monday:
Cleaned and cleaned. My room is, well was, spotless and all my clothes has been placed back in my closest and such.... The kitchen is clean of my baking mess and the bathroom is rid of my clutter on the counter tops. Soccer in the evening, sadly we lost once again.

Tuesday:
Got inspired by Threadbangers to make some plush toys. I made these three little monsters, aren't they cute? the first one is my fav :) here's the pattern link: http://images.cutoutandkeep.net/cutoutandkeep/pdfs/monster.pdf
I modified some of it, and now my monsters are even cuter :)
Weeded the garden and watched my new fav show: Pretty Little Liars (since Glee's not on)

Wednesday:
Well, today.....nothing really, made a mess of my room already and gave my chem notes to Fatima. Soccer practice, cool thunder, and I saw a cloud shaped as an elephant, and at home this claw-like cloud, it looked like it came straight from Harry Potter :P

I realized that I should really stop watching TV. When I get bored I just rot in front of the tube. It's SO bad! And I am now hooked on this show called Pretty Little Liars on MuchMusic. Lame show, but soooo much drama, I can't stop!!!!

♫ Here Comes the Bride ♫

Is it just me or are weddings getting more extravagant and expensive each year? It seems that everyone wants to top everybody else. It’s no longer solely focused on the whole aspect of loving your spouse forever, it’s about having the most amazing wedding ever, that everyone will forevermore remember. The memory of your wedding may last longer than your actual marriage.

The trend can be seen quite clearly in the media. You here of stars spending millions on just their wedding rings (got to have the biggest rock in Hollywood). Shows like: Say Yes to the Dress, Rich Bride Poor Bride, and Battle of the Wedding Designers; are feeding a new generation of girls who are already imaging their perfect day which comes with a cost. That cost isn’t even known to these girls! The wedding industry is pushing to gain more money, and its working!
On average, a newlywed couple in Canada, spends $20 000 on their weddings. That’s a lot of money! The cost for just the wedding dress of the bride alone can range from $500 to $10 000 (or more). Not to mention the cost for location, photos, food and drinks, invitations, decorations, transportation, rings, and the list goes on and on and on.....

Better start saving up soon!

And then all you’ll need to worry about, is saying “I do!”.

'Cause that's how we do.

The road to success is often paved with... kinks?
Well who knew those sometimes annoying kinks could be such a riot?
As you all know, CFM has completely re-vamped the blog; name, template and all.  So the name thing has probably been the most frustrating issue that needed to be tackled.  Last night the three of us sat down to our respective computers and began the brainstorm of a lifetime.

-spice rack
-misses in boredom
-what's cooking?
-flip flops

-orange spaghetti
-blue lemons
-what happens in vegas
-scandalous
-exes and ohs
-unveiled/revealed
-the elephant in the room
-bathroom graffiti
-the hot ones
-the lost boys
-groudies
-rapies
-rufalin
-backstage whispers
-LSD (yes, the drug)
-backstage whispers from the elephant smoking rufalin in the room

These are just the names I can remember from memory, so when Charlotte decides to send me the actual convo, I will be sure to update this and hopefully squeeze a few more laughs out of you guys.

Which names would you have liked as a possibility for our blog?  Give us your feedback, we would love to know your opinions! :)

Summer Trends

Summer is here as all of you know and fun, light colours are more popular than ever. Here are my top ten must-haves:

1. Bright and Fun Nails
Fun nails are a must this season! Show off your perfectly done manicures and pedicures in a nice rockin' pink or seafoam green. Be bold and go for a nice sunshine yellow, and spread the summer lovin'.

2. Sunglasses
Ladies and gents, go get a pair of statement sunglasses! Don't be afraid to get colourful rims, like red or green. If you are more conservative, why not a pair of aviators?

3. Beach Hat
I just simply love those huge floppy sun hats! They are great for the beach, out with your friends, you name it. The hat is comfortable, chic and oh so cute. The wide brim will prevent you from getting nasty sunburns on your neck and face, and it just looks fabulous when paired with a swimsuit.

4. The Messy Braid
So hot this season, a nice long braid on the side of your neck as seen on Alexander Wang Runway. So chic, it'll look like you just came back from the beach everytime, and you will be the envy of all girls. If your hair is too short, opt for messy beach waves, they never go out of style. This can be achieved with a wide barrel curling iron, braiding of a salt/water spray.

5. A Patterned Dress
A flowy, light, and easy to travel with patterned summer dress is the way to go about this season!  Floral patterns, graphic patterns, any pattern really, will make that summer dress all the more special and is great for those summer dates when it's just too hot to dress in your smokin' hot skinny jeans.

6. Sandals
The type of sandal doesn't matter, but personally I've been leaning toward gladiator sandals, considering i own a pair, and they look great with shorts, skirts and even dresses. they are really comfortable and easy to pack away for a vacation. a great alternative to the ol' flip flops. But don't go throwing out your flipflops now, they're still useful for the beach.

7. Swimsuit
I love shopping for swim suits! Patterned, plain, metal clasps, ties... etc. Make sure you have a great swim suit this summer, one that allows you to show off your assets to gain some attention.  However, try not to go overboard, bare it all, or wear bandaids. Be mindful of your body shape when shopping for swimsuits and go shopping with your friends, they'll be brutally honest with you and you won't end up looking like a bimbo.

8. Big Tote Bag
The big canvas bag, useful in many ways. It's a great staple for going to the beach, you can fit everything and anything in these! I love the ones from L. L. Bean and decorating them to suit my personality.

9. Denium
Whether it be a vest, shorts, skirt or jeans, denium is a staple to all teens and we all have this unique ability to wear denium in 40°C weather and not die of heat stroke. :)

10. Ahoy Matey (Nautical)
Any sailor trend clothing was big in spring, and now even bigger in summer. The six button front sailor shorts are really hot for the sumemr wardrobe as well as stripes. Navy blue and white stirped dresses can be seen in multiple stores all across Canada as well as the traditional red and white shirts. I'm still looking for a red and white crop top, let me know if you find one ;)

Well, that's my take on this years summer trends, dont' forget to leave a comment :)
If you have any questions, post them in the comment box too :)

Comes in Handy

The newest thing in the Fashion and Celebrity world:
Botox for your hands and hand lifts!
Ever wanted to get rid of those spidery veins?  The saggy skin, the skeleton-like fingers?
Well, Hollywood stars are getting new and improved hands thanks to this new trend.  I'm going to take a wild guess and say that it's probably a similar procedure to plastic surgery procedures performed on one's face.  I think plastic surgeons have gone far enough.  How many times will you go under the knife? Is it worth the hundreds, actually thousands, of dollars?
Growing old is a fact of life.  It's not something that we should be trying to counteract.

Here are some before and after photos:
to be honest, there's not much difference, a better remedy would be to wear lots of sunscreen and lotion to keep those hands young and fresh looking. :)

A 5 on the Richter Scale

Holy Crap, there was an EARTHQUAKE!
in ottawa
a 5 on the richter scale...not very common for an earthquake of such magnitude, to grace our valley.

Luckly there have been no reports of serious injuries.

The epicenter of the quake was 65km north of here.
The quake was felt as far as Boston and New York.

LIKE WOAH! Crazy shit!
I was in a car, so I had no idea that there was even an earthquake. I was walking home and I saw all these people out on the streets, I was like, are these people ALL on lunch break or something, isn't it kinda late?
Went home, saw my brother picking up glass, realized it was my stainglass stuff, and I was just like holy shit! did you break it...nope he didn't, it was an earthquake.

went upstairs, room was a DISASTER!
drawers were shaken open, pictures fell down, figures on the floor......
portfolios scattered across the carpet. Yikes! just not pretty.
Now the job of cleaning my room is going to be even more tedious :(    *sigh*

Shoe-a-holic

I have officially been diagnosed as being a shoe-a-holic, by Fatima.
I have this uncanny ability to pick fantastic shoes, fall in love with them, and not being able to buy them.
The black ones below, are by L.A.M.B., by Gwen Stefani. absolutely gorgeous :) with a side of extremely expensive.
Original price: $430
Winner's price: $229
If they're still there at the end of the summer, i'm so getting them.
They are black leather and suede, with a metallic silver heel, a good 5 inches in height.

picture taken in a circular mirror

Fatima taking a picture of my "lovely" elongated legs =P

Side view.
Sadly, I didn't get them, and hopefully they'll still be there at the end of the summer.
This is just like a repeat of that whole scenario downtown in April, with the grey wedges.. except those were a hell of a lot cheaper.

On the bright side of things, I got my BCBG Shoes in the mail today :)
They were in the Final Cut sale on BCBG.com, so I got them for CHEAP!
I love designer sales.
Aren't they gold and wonderful? I'm planning on wearing them for GRAD! Thx Uncle and Aunt :)

Don't ask why one toe has a flower, and the other doesn't... it kinda fell off... and I was too lazy to replace it right away.

The Misadventures of CFM

So today, CFM missioned as in army missioned to Extreme Pita. We went to my house to pick up my scooter right? Normal easy task.... WRONG! The scooter had disappeared and even after calling a parent to find the location, parent did not give any good info; so instead we settled for the deflated bike which was WAY too small. after one round around the neighbourhood to find a air pump, only to find out that brothers all around the neighbourhood were jackasses, we gave up and settled for Petro Can.
after dealing with a twitchy clerk person, we dealed with the air pump box, behind the gas corner store, and we finally went on our to way to College Square.
We all got extremely sweaty and partially death becasue of Melissa's crazy barking dog.

and fatima can finish writing this cuz this is supposed to be her post.
she can't finish it because her "O" is broken.
