time to crack down...?

So I see my 2 other better halves have not been able to blog recently, so I though I may as well let you guys know that we haven't fallen off the face of the earth or anything.

University is getting more overwhelming by the minute, as I have been watching the labs, quizzes, papers, and the unspoken everyday homework we are supposed to do just pile up.  Chemistry is well, tiring.  Enough said.  I think I am still trying to find my golden studying technique or hoping that I will be sitting in class one day and just have an epiphany.  Either way, I suppose the key to success is just staying on top of my classes and always being one step ahead.  If I can keep up to begin with.

The partying is well, there.  I don't think there has been a night without a party in my tower come to think of it.  But the people here are pretty chill and I am really thankful for my room in the penthouse (6th floor) for when those crazy nights get a little too out of control.  Plus, I finally got my cable hooked up a week ago!! I love having a tv, despite the distraction it may be.  It is nice just to relax and unwind with one of my shows or just watch mindless tv to help you fall asleep.

So I guess I will leave you guys with that, hopefully there are a select few of you out there that are still following this blog!! To whoever is, thanks so much for continuing to support us!!

And blogging seems to have taken a back seat...?

Man oh man, I think it's been a good month since I've blogged.
Yeah, let's just say A LOT of things have happened since then.

First of all, I went to Toronto (Lake Simcoe) for a week in mid-July to visit my godfamily.  Now since I've grown up, I just haven't really been feeling the cottage scene, until this summer.  Long story short, I met (well met again, more in-depth) our neighbour across the street who happens to be my godmother's nephew and it turns out we've been dating for 3 weeks now.  That week was probably one of the most tumultuous, crazy-good, and romantic weeks I have ever had in my life.  It was so fun to just be up in the country and swim in the crystal-clear, sandy bottom lake almost everyday, relaxing in the hammock or just enjoying the scenery from Mike's backyard.

I honestly believe I fell in love with the countryside for the first time in my life, because the feeling I got was unexplainable and I just can't wait to go back (in 11 days, actually :D:D).  So I got back home, feeling lonely and trying to get used to the fact that I was in a relationship, and having to face my mom.  (Did I mention that he's 5 and a half years older than me)?  But let me just say, I can't thank my mom enough for being there for me over the past 6 or so months.  She really has been having a hard time getting used to me growing up and moving on with my life (trust me, I'm still trying to wrap my head around it).  But she is doing the best she can, and I really appreciate having her there to talk about anything and giving me the freedom I need.

So for the Civic Holiday weekend, Mike surprised me and came up to visit for 3 days!  I got to show him around Ottawa and we got to talk a lot and just enjoy each other's company.  It was a great time.  And my friends (Char and Fatima) have been a constant of course, hanging out, SHOPPING (I'm literally penny-pinching off my mother right now), and workk!!!!!!!!!

4 days from now I will be done done done!!!!!!!!!!  No more Timothy's, although I must say it has been a hell of a ride and I will miss everyone.  On Monday my mom and I are going up to a resort on the Rideau Lakes for a week, then I have a birthday to come back to, and then I'm off to Lake Simcoe to see the bf! :)

This summer has certainly shaped up to be one of the best I have ever had, and I just hope they keep getting better.

P.S. School shopping has definetely been a source of my debt, I really understand the concept of money being here one minute, and gone the next.

F: Optimist when i'm happy and a pessimist when i'm sad. Thank goodness i'm mostly happy.
M: Ugh this is hardddd, um I guess it depends on the situation.  I try to be optimistic because life is just better when you have something to look forward to.

City or country life?

C: City, I love vacationing in the country, but I love the bustle and hustle in the city

F: My worn out, yellow sweater, my faded blue jeans and my red belt.
M: My red and navy blue striped sweater, my floral skirt and my white v-neck t-shirt.

If you could only see black and white except for one color, what color would you choose to see?

C: Oh man! So hard!!!! Blue? I really don't know, being an art student, I can't justify which colour I'd chose :(
F: I would say yellow because then I could paint and see the sun which would make my days a little better.
M: Blue.

And for everyone else:
Do you buy various athletic trophies and have your name engraved onto them so that when people come over you can throw them away in front of them?  Then when they ask what you are doing you can tell them,"oh, I'm just getting rid of some of these damn trophies, I have no room for any more?"

Boredom & Breaking the Bank

Hey everyone!! Sorry CFM has been incognito for the past week, you would think we would be blogging in our nice, air conditioned homes with the 40+ degree weather we have been having.
However, being locked up at home does have it's downsides, and so Fatima and I decided to roam around Ottawa all week.  First was good old College Square on Tuesday night, where I spent a good $140.  I must admit though, I got some good steals, including some jean shorts, a nice top, and 2 skirts.  Next was venturing to Barrhaven last night to get some university ideas.  Fatima ended up buying storage, etc. for the fall, while I got plenty of ideas (couldn't spend any of my non-existant money after the night before).  It was a fun day, despite the disgusting humidity.

Tonight we were going to go to the pool, but I forgot it hadn't been completely renovated yet, so we hopped on a 95 and went to Place D'Orleans for 3 hours, went back towards downtown and went to Rideau, then came home.

I must say it has been a fun week, much better than staying home, despite the weather.  I just have to work on controlling my shopping urges.

The Ultimate Love Story

I don't care what anyone says, but Titanic is a love story for the ages and never fails to make me bawl like a baby.

Jack & Rose, I wish all lovers could be as happy as you were, if only for a short time.

The Moment of Truth

Well it's finally happened... the first flying car has been approved for air space.
I remember watching The Jetsons (I still do), and marvelling at how outlandish the assumptions of the future were.  I mean, living in the 1960s, I guess you would have to make estimated guesses about what life would be like 200 or 300 years from then.
So this car is called The Terrafugia Transition and has gained approval from The Federal Aviation Administration.  The only one of its kind, this puppy costs a cool $194 000 USD.

Some quick manufacturer facts:
  • it is being classified as a "light sport aircraft" even though it is 120 pounds over the limit
  • it can carry 450 pounds
  • it weights approximately 1300 pounds
  • it needs at least 1700 feet of land to take off
  • it has a travelling speed of 115 mph in the air, with a total range of 460 mph
  • pilots/drivers only need 20 hours of training and practice in order to operate one
  • it can function as a car, you just need to collapse the wings

And if you think that people are going to miss out on this investment, think again: there have been at least 70 reservations for the futuristic automobile.
Honestly, if you had the funds, who wouldn't trade the hassles of waiting in airports and going through customs for a strange, yet cool, flying apparatus?

look for this bad boy flying in an air space near you in mid 2011.

... then comes the baby and the baby carriage?

I cannot believe this subject did not hit me in the face sooner so I could address it.  I mean, pregnancy (teen especially), seems to be all around me these days.  In the past week, I have learned of at least 5 new buns in the oven, not to mention the countless expectant women that come in to my work, or are just out and about on a regular day.

It's almost as if pregnancy has become a trend or fad.  And the media has not been much help to control this issue.  Pregnancy is prevalent in almost every TV show I watch (maybe I subconsciously stray toward those shows out of fascination?), including: The Secret Life of the American Teenager, 90210, Glee, 16 & Pregnant, Degrassi, etc.  All of these shows, with the exception of Degrassi, have either kept their babies or given them up for adoption, which I feel is a great message to send to teens, if anything.  Teen pregnancy is definetely one of the most difficult experiences a young girl will ever have to go through if she finds herself in said situation, and being able to have the courage to give an unwanted child life and the life it deserves is the most loving thing a young mother could do.

original ad for the series when it started about 2 years ago

On 90210, Adrianna found herself pregnant with a guy she had a one-night stand with, while dating the guy of her dreams.

Maci from the First Season of "16 & Pregnant"

I must admit being pregnant can look glamourous at times, I mean, Amy Juergens (Secret Life) had an amazing figure before she had her son, and she looked the same, if not better afterwards.  And let's not forget famous young starlets who met motherhood early in life: Jamie Lynn Spears and Bristol Palin anyone?  16 & Pregnant is probably the closest one can get to reality when delving into the teenage perspective of motherhood, because the girls on that show are going through pregnancy without a predetermined storyline; they do not know what the future holds for them, their relationships, and most importantly, their unborn children, which can be absolutely terrifying.

Bristol Palin, teen daughter of state senator Sarah Palin, and son Tripp

Jamie Lynn and daughter Maddie

Pregnancy is a complex and controversial topic when analyzed from a general point of view, but the best way to keep an unwanted pregnancy at bay for you teens out there is to USE PROTECTION, or better yet, PRACTICE ABSTINANCE!  You can have a loving relationship with your boyfriend or girlfriend without having to feel like you have to go all the way.

'Cause that's how we do.

The road to success is often paved with... kinks?
Well who knew those sometimes annoying kinks could be such a riot?
As you all know, CFM has completely re-vamped the blog; name, template and all.  So the name thing has probably been the most frustrating issue that needed to be tackled.  Last night the three of us sat down to our respective computers and began the brainstorm of a lifetime.

Some of the definite FTW names that we somehow managed to type up with a straight face (for the most part)?

-robombom
-bam it's CFm
-cupcakes
-a pinch of salt
-salt can sting
-SAY WHAT?!
-spice rack
-misses in boredom
-what's cooking?
-flip flops

-dirty little secrets
-ripped tights
-orange spaghetti
-blue lemons
-what happens in vegas
-scandalous
-exes and ohs
-unveiled/revealed
-the elephant in the room
-bathroom graffiti
-the hot ones
-the lost boys
-groudies
-rapies
-rufalin
-backstage whispers
-LSD (yes, the drug)
-backstage whispers from the elephant smoking rufalin in the room
-elephant poo

-different gems
-secrets of a teenage girl
-the teenage diaries
-orange juice
-OJ

These are just the names I can remember from memory, so when Charlotte decides to send me the actual convo, I will be sure to update this and hopefully squeeze a few more laughs out of you guys.

Which names would you have liked as a possibility for our blog?  Give us your feedback, we would love to know your opinions! :)

FIFA!

Catch all the action online, on the radio, television, you name it!

We are now into the quarter finals!

Intense matches today. Japan versus Paraguay and Spain vs. Portugal.
Paraguay and Spain will be advancing into the Quarter Finals.

Japan lost in a shoot out and Spain won with a 1-0 match against Portugal.
Christiano Rinaldo has not been playing his best sadly, and it really doesn't matter any more considering that he's going home with Portugal now. Fatima's probably jumping up and down in excitement over Argentina seeing as they are playing on July 3rd.

A 5 on the Richter Scale

Holy Crap, there was an EARTHQUAKE!
in ottawa
a 5 on the richter scale...not very common for an earthquake of such magnitude, to grace our valley.

Luckly there have been no reports of serious injuries.

The epicenter of the quake was 65km north of here.
The quake was felt as far as Boston and New York.

LIKE WOAH! Crazy shit!
I was in a car, so I had no idea that there was even an earthquake. I was walking home and I saw all these people out on the streets, I was like, are these people ALL on lunch break or something, isn't it kinda late?
Went home, saw my brother picking up glass, realized it was my stainglass stuff, and I was just like holy shit! did you break it...nope he didn't, it was an earthquake.

went upstairs, room was a DISASTER!
drawers were shaken open, pictures fell down, figures on the floor......
portfolios scattered across the carpet. Yikes! just not pretty.
Now the job of cleaning my room is going to be even more tedious :(    *sigh*

Top 10

So I was going through my iTunes playlists, and my most played songs are as follows:

1. Your Man - Down With Webster
What can I say, Down With Webster is awesome.  Ever since I heard a snippet of Rich Girl$ in my friend's car, I have been hooked.  They are just such a refereshing group, with talented singers, musicians and a fun attitude.

2. Adult Education - Hall & Oates
HALL & OATES RULE!  I don't care what Fatima says, this is one of the best 80s pop groups (and they are still around today), and there are many more songs I could include but won't right now.

3. Step By Step - New Kids On The Block
Rich Girl$ - Down With Webster
I first heard Step By Step in my brother's car as one of the tracks on a mix CD, and I did not like the song at all.  Then came this past New Year's, and while watching the MuchMoreMusicRetro Dance Party, I was watching the video and fell in love with the song.  A great way to re-live those pre-BSB days and just dance.

As for DWW, what can I say, they are great.

4. Open All Night - Hall & Oates
Again, one of the best duos ever to grace the music scene.

5. Always On Time - Ja Rule Ft. Ashanti
Like I said for New Kids, was not a fan of this song when it first came out like what, 10 years ago almost?  Then I heard it on the radio driving home from Guelph late at night and loved it.

6. Let It Whip - Dazz Band
Great song, great beat, just an overall feel good band.

7. When You Really Love Someone - Alicia Keys
Heard this song while randomly watching the scene from Young and the Restless when Nick & Phyllis hook up for the first time.  I had scene this episode 5 years earlier, but hearing it on YouTube a few months ago made me realize what a great song it is.

8. Do What You Want, Be What You Are - Hall & Oates
Hall & Oates, again.  Surprise, surprise.

9. Celebration - Madonna
One of her newest songs, heard it while attending a Prom Fashion Show with Fatima and Char a few months ago.  Great club song.

10. The Look of Love - ABC
   Take It Off - KeSha
Let It Rock - Kevin Rudolf Ft. Lil' Wayne
I had been looking for the ABC song for years after seeing the video, but never knew who the artist was.  Randomly found out who it was on iTunes one day.

KeSha actually has music beyond TiK ToK believe it or not!  This song is great to dance to and has a cool beat.

Heard Let It Rock for the longest time on the radio and such, then heard it at one of STP's pep rallies and the rest is history.

oh man...

So i was strolling down the street, you know, being cool and all. When suddenly i felt fabric against my hand. Turns out, I hit a really, really hot guy on roller blades in the nuts :(. He winked and continued roller blading while I was standing there completely mortified. Why me?

The Misadventures of CFM

So today, CFM missioned as in army missioned to Extreme Pita. We went to my house to pick up my scooter right? Normal easy task.... WRONG! The scooter had disappeared and even after calling a parent to find the location, parent did not give any good info; so instead we settled for the deflated bike which was WAY too small. after one round around the neighbourhood to find a air pump, only to find out that brothers all around the neighbourhood were jackasses, we gave up and settled for Petro Can.
after dealing with a twitchy clerk person, we dealed with the air pump box, behind the gas corner store, and we finally went on our to way to College Square.
We all got extremely sweaty and partially death becasue of Melissa's crazy barking dog.

and fatima can finish writing this cuz this is supposed to be her post.
she can't finish it because her "O" is broken.

FIFA day two!

Hello folks! So Argentina played the much anticipated third game of FIFA against Nigeria and came out with a 1-0 win! The one and only goal of the game was scored within the first 6 minutes! The rest of the game was beautifully played by both teams. I think Argentina was getting a little cocky with their fast goal scored by Gabriel Heinze. Lionel Messi, a force to be reckoned with, with his amazing sprints and devastating kicks, played very well but was stopped by the great Nigerian defence and their goalie Vincent Enyeama. Coach Diego Maradona looked quite happy in his debut win in the world cup.

In other FIFA news, Korea won it's game against Greece 2-0. Park-Ji-Sung's quick feet lead to win the first game of FIFA. England and the United States went head to head in a very anticipated and competitive match. Both teams played quite well but their equally matched efforts lead to a 1-1 tie. South Africa also tied 1-1 with Mexico and Uruguay tied with France 0-0.

The next match-ups for Sunday's games are Algeria vs. Slovenia, Germany vs. Australia, and Serbia vs. Ghana. Should be another eventful day! See great photos and stats on FIFA.com.

That's all for today on the 2010 FIFA World Cup Soccer tournament!

P.S GO ARGENTINA WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
