Yes, its true, I didn't see Avatar until today..... Don't judge me!!!
Awesome movie, for all of you who haven't seen it or think it's lame, well, YOU ARE WRONG!!! its a must see :) never too late.
James Cameron is a genius! The whole movie was made to simulate live viewing as if you were in Pandora. Cameron even had new technology created for him to film the movie. Multiple cameras were used at once and amazing CGI created a fairytale world.
Let's talk actors/actresses and their characters:
Sam Worthington: Jake Sully, not bad eye candy, except I think he looks better not super scruffy!! lol, but good looking none the less.
Zoë Saldana: Neytiri, amazing job!!! amazing acting job considering she was basically talking to a green screen most of the time.
Michelle Rodriguez: Trudy, total badass pilot! love her ^.^ (fav character). Especially love it when she fools the prison guard: "I don't think these prisioners deserve steaks, (guard bend down to check, gun at head and knocked out cold]"
and
Trudy Chacon: [fires on Quaritch's Hellicopter] You're not the only one with a gun, bitch!
Joel Moore: Norman, because every movie should have its awkward moments = P
Jake Sully: So who's this Eywa?
Norm Spellman: Who's Eywa? Only their deity! Their goddess, maker of all living things. Everything they know! You'd know this if you've had any training whatsoever.
Jake Sully: [Shows him Neytiri's picture] Who's got a date with the chief's daughter?
Norm Spellman: Oh, come on!
If you are one of those people who plan on seeing it again and again and again...(you get the point)
Here are some things to look out for: (goofs from imdb.com)
- Factual errors: The sounds of the gunships in the movie are those of old helicopters, with their hard distinctive "chop-chop" sound. That sound is typical for a helicopter with a two-blade main rotor and non-ducted tail rotor. The gunships in the movie, with their ducted multi-blade main rotors and no tail rotor would not produce that kind of hard choppy noise, but rather a much quicker, softer sound.
- Revealing mistakes: In a few of the sky shots, some of the shadows cast onto the main planet from its moons don't match up with the stellar light source.
- Plot holes: During the breakout scene at the bridge, Max uses an access badge to free Jake, Grace, and Norm from the holding cell. A security camera is clearly seen on the ceiling, yet Max is never identified as the "inside man".
- Plot holes: Human beings are not able to breathe in Pandora's atmosphere, yet the avatars are able to breath inside the human laboratory.
FAVOURITE QUOTE:
Dr. Max Patel: Grace, this is Jake Sully.
Jake Sully: Madame.
Dr. Grace Augustine: Yeah, yeah, I know who you are and I don't need you. I need your brother. You know, the Ph.D who trained for 3 years for this mission.
Jake Sully: He's dead. I know it's a big inconvenience for everyone.
Dr. Grace Augustine: How much lab training have you had?
Jake Sully: I dissected a frog once.
